Replace the AAAA battery with the positive ( ) end of the battery pointing toward the tail end of the pen. Align the flat sides of the pen and push the two parts back together.

Nevermind, I just opened the pen to access the battery compartment by pulling the cap straight up and off the body of the pen. It's very easy, actually very little force is needed to pull the cap off the pen. So I think I answered my question. 13 people found this answer helpful.

If possible, try charging your Surface Slim Pen with another charger such as the Surface Slim Pen Charger. If the pen does not charge there either, your pen should be replaced.

Grateful for any assistance on a surface hub pen (model number HV9 00020). I can't find any info on what batteries, how to open it, or if it has a rechargeable battery etc.

My Surface pen stopped working. When I saw a pic of the insides of the pen I realized there is a battery. I have tried to open the battery lock, but it won't move. Is there a trick to changing the battery? The pen is only two weeks old.
