What are your favorite model rockets made by Estes?

Yes you can easily switch between Estes and Quest motor of similar or matching nomenclature such as a Quest B6 4 for an Estes B6 4 and even C6 3 or C6 5 varieties. 99% of average Low Power Rockets (LPR) are skinny, low drag and simple 3 or 4 fins. Using a Quest C6 5 in an Estes BT 60 sized 2 or so ounce rocket is absolutely safe and ok!

Idk about you but when I think of classic Estes rockets I think of the alpha. For the next red max, the original der big red max was a long red max so they may call it Der Long Max. And 140 kits to build, damn! Somehow my kits to build list has narrowed down to 1. I don’t know how that happened but it did "rockets to build" does not equal "kits"

The Estes Master’s Series Mercury Atlas Rocket Friendship 7, John Glenn’s historic ride, was finished up building today. I started off reinforcing the launch lugs with Fixit Epoxy Clay. Then I moved onto the flight fins. After that I started probably the most difficult part of the project which is the capsule and escape rocket tower.

Good advice. Estes has also made two launch controllers that used a 9V battery. The most recent was the "Astron II" controller. The battery had to be a high quality unit (Duracell or Energizer) in order for it to be reasonably reliable. Wiring inside a rocket would be much shorter than that used by a launch controller, which will help.
